Your boiler stops working, it always happens at the worst time. The house becomes freezy, you try to turn on the heat — but nothing happens. No warm water, no warmth, just silence. You check the boiler, press a few buttons, nothing. Just silence. And that’s when it hits you — oh great, it’s finally given up.

The thing is, boilers don’t last forever. After years of keeping your home warm, they just start to slow down. Maybe it’s using too much gas, maybe it keeps cutting off, or it’s making that strange rattling sound you try to ignore. You can fix it once or twice, sure — but deep down, you know it’s only a matter of time before it goes again.

And yeah, replacing it feels like a big deal. It’s not exactly cheap. You’re looking at roughly €900 to €4,000 for the boiler itself, plus another €500–€1,000 for fitting. No small expense.

How are boilers installed?

Mount the boiler securely to provide a solid foundation for your heating system. Next, connect the Water Supply lines to ensure a steady flow of hot water.

Can I install my own boiler?

It requires a lot of hard and technical work that, unless you have extensive experience dealing with, you shouldn’t install without a professional.

Do boilers run on gas or electricity?

Electric and gas boilers work in the same way by heating water for radiators and providing hot water for your home.

Why can’t I just get a new gas boiler?

Because from 2025, the scheme only pays for eco-friendly heating systems like heat pumps. It doesn’t cover gas or other fossil fuel boilers anymore.

How much does a new boiler cost?

Work conducted under Flex government grant schemes
are either subsidised or no cost to the customer.
