Installing an air source heat pump is a great way of producing your own heat, reduce your carbon emissions and save money on your heating bills. It doesn’t need to be warm outside to work as they will generate heat even when outside air temperatures are as low as -20°C.

They work in a similar way to a fridge or air conditioning system, the difference being is that they actually produce warm air. Air source heat pumps are an electrically powered unit, but with a high efficiency rating. Compare this to a 90% efficient A-rated gas boiler, or older lower 60% rated boilers and you’ll quickly realise why air source heat pumps are a popular way to heat your home or business.

Overall, insulation is a great way to make your home more energy efficient and comfortable. It’s like adding a layer of protection against the elements, so you can enjoy a comfortable temperature all year round.

Eligibility Routes

There are two eligibility routes for GBIS, the general group,
or the low-income group;

Low-income Group (Under 31k Household Income)

Measures and Scoring

  • Primarily single measure per property. Owner occupied households in low-income groups are also eligible for heating controls in addition to an insulation measure.
  • ECO4 partial project scores will be used to calculate the annual bill savings (ABS) a measure achieves.
  • This is a partially funded scheme and is Baxter Kelly’s responsibility to agree customer contribution on an individual basis linked to the measures installed.

Uplifts

  • Low-income off-gas households in Scotland and Wales in rural areas will receive a 20% uplift to the score given to each measure.
  • Innovation Measures will receive a 25% or 45% uplift, as applies in ECO4, in the low- income group only capped at 10% of those within this group (2% of overall scheme)

Evidence

  • Proof of council tax band required for general group
  • Proof of benefit required for low-income group, this is normally evidenced through DWP (Department of Work & Pensions) check
